What goes on my new website graphic
Yes! A fresh new website!

Let’s add all the things!
– Include some stuff about my business
– Write my life story
– Add a link to my old blog from 6 years ago
– Link all of my social media handles
– Add a link to my new business social account that doesn’t have anything yet

Pause. Let’s not do all that.

You need a game plan before you build, or hire someone to build, your new website.

Yes, I’m saying that if you already have a website and you don’t know exactly what you’re going to put on it—down to the commas—then you’re reading this too late.

But we can fix this.

So what goes on my new website?

You want to make sure to focus the website you’re going to create around whatever it is you want people to visit this website for. You want to stay laser-focused on this.

It’s really easy to get carried away and get this part wrong.

Ask yourself these questions:
– What is this website about?
– What do I want people to do here?

Now grab your scissors

Use the answers to the above questions to help you decide what makes the cut. If what you want to put on the website has nothing to do with that the website is about, you need to cut it.

If what you want to put on the website doesn’t help them do what you want them to do on the site, you need to cut it.

Cut it!

Then, cut some more by asking yourself: would people be still able to do what I want them to do if I leave this piece of information out?

If the answer is yes, you probably don’t need it.

And that right there is the simplified way to decide what information you put on, and leave off of, your website.
